The Writing Center provides individual tutoring for undergraduates and grad students. Graduate students may also sign up for grad writing groups group through our VOCES Graduate Student Writing Center. The center supports diverse writing needs, including those listed below.

Graduate Student Writing Group – Rebellious Chingone

Purpose: All graduate students are welcome to join the Rebellious Chingone Writers for Liberation writing group. We are a collective of radical, rebellious, chingone/x graduate students dedicated to writing together en comunidad (in community). Our vision is to create a recurring communal writing space, share strategies, challenge dominant narratives and spaces, and breathe life into ourselves and our writing projects. We offer twice-weekly writing groups and periodic writing retreats. This writing group is offered by the VOCES Graduate Writing Center, the Writing Center and HSI Initiatives of UCSC.

Days/Times: Mondays 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, and Wednesdays, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Start and End Dates of Summer 2025 groups: July 7 – August 27

Location: Hybrid (In-person + Zoom)

“Citation Matters” Workshops for Summer 2025:

Citation Matters is a one-hour online workshop will focus on academic integrity in writing.  The workshop instructor will be a Writing Center tutor. Topics will include proper citation, paraphrasing, avoiding plagiarism, and more.  All undergraduate students, graduate students, and interested faculty may sign up for Citation Matters.  To sign up, please go to “ucsc.mywconline.com” and under “Select a Schedule,” select “Citation Matters Workshop” for one of these dates:

  • Thursday, August 14 at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
